MK Re-Entry Retreat - August 1-4, 2012

Blog Topic:

On August 1st, approximately 90 MK’s (missionary kids) will arrive in Georgia for the annual MK Re-Entry Retreat. This retreat, facilitated by the International Mission Board, is for children of international missionaries entering college for the first time. The retreat provides a setting for MK’s to process the transition to college life and the American culture.
As Georgia hosts this event at Pinnacle Retreat Center, we want to make it as special as possible for the MK’s. Some of these kids have spent their childhood on a foreign mission field and it could be their first time away from their family. We want to show them our love and support. This is where our help is needed. Churches, small groups, and/or individuals are asked to Adopt a MK. Adoption includes giving $100 that will be used for one MK to provide items such as sheets, towels, computer accessories, school supplies and other “goodies” that are needed when you move into an empty dorm room. You will also receive information on your MK and correspondence from them after the retreat. This is a great way to personalize missions for your family and church!
There are still 80 MK’s that need to be adopted! Please prayerfully consider participation in this unique project. The re-entry retreat is hosted in a different state each year so we want to show our missionary personnel and IMB how much Georgia Baptists love the MK’s.
If you, a small group or Sunday School class would like to adopt a MK, please see Marlene Chapman for adoption form and payment information.
